About me:

I am an associate professor at Stephen F. Austin State University
in Nacogdoches, TX.  For the past 10 years I have been involved
with developing and building the Division of Biotechnology at the
University.  Over these years, I have hosted middle school and
high school students at the Science Research Center laboratory.
During these field trips, the students have extracted DNA from
spinach, explored the wonders of DNA, carried out forensic PCR
and deciphered the genetic code.  All of these experiences started
me thinking that really anyone at any age can learn biotechnology
and the wonders inside the living cell.  This idea inspired me to
start promoting this concept and reaching out to teachers to see if
I can offer resources that will aid them in engaging, exciting and
teaching the students under their charge.
